The best album of 2024 so far is brat by Charli XCX. An excellently produced party album with introspective songs about growing into complete adulthood. It’s an interesting synthesis between a mainstream pop sound and the growing “hyperpop” sub-genre. It’s so smart and catchy as hell. It will be on repeat for the rest of the year!
This is a shorter list than usual! I’m not sure why! I didn’t get into any particular musical obsession for a while, then I got really busy in May/June. I moved to a new apartment in my old neighborhood and we’re really pleased with the place! I went to Europe at the end of May and had a ton of fun with Rebecca and all the fine folks in the Bob Dylan Scholar Community. I lost my phone and went through a whole ordeal with that. Now we’re back into the groove of regular life, trying to enjoy the fleeting summer months.
Then, you can see I got really into prog rock in the last few weeks. 1971 was a great year for prog rock! I’ve been trying to write a prog rock-themed playlist name pending but I haven’t quite gotten to a thesis statement yet.
Sorry for being quiet during this entire quarter of the year, but new articles are coming, as well as a little video essay project I’ve made some considerable progress on! Keep an eye out for that 👀
Okay, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading and checking in. Hope to see you again soon!

You notice they changed the font on Spotify? I feel like I’m going crazy, dawg. They should fix the entire UI and everything else as well.
I need to know more about your thoughts on The Mountain Goats. Their discography is so huge, I'm pretty sure John Darnielle physically cannot not make music
